The largest natural gas oil company may be Schlumberger and Smith. Recent talks in the stock market have hinted at a merger between Smith and Schlumberger. Smith is based out of Houston, where some of the largest shale areas are being found for natural gas. Texas has always been a huge area for oil, which is another reason why Smith as a gas oil company is one of the largest. Schlumberger wants to get in on the deal that is making Smith very rich. In fact, Smith is bound to become even wealthier based on the future market trends.

We are moving towards natural gas. Any gas oil company that doesn’t want to be left behind needs to make the same move as Smith and Schlumberger. In other words they need to focus on finding a company that is already in the production of natural gas or find their own areas to begin fracturing the shale. Total, BP, and Exxon Mobil are three of the companies, which have also made moves recently into the natural gas sector.

One of the reasons natural gas has been desired by any gas oil company is the cleanliness. It produces less carbon in the atmosphere, which means it will not cause damage to the ozone or as much pollution as coal has. The other reason a gas oil company can be interested in the natural gas sector is becoming independent on other types of oil. For several years the US has been dependent on oil production in the Fareast. Though we have oil in the Gulf of Mexico, Texas, and Alaska as well as other parts of the US, it is not to the high degree of other countries.

If we can use natural gas to power our cars we no longer pollute the earth as much and we might find savings in the gas we pay at the pump. The future is moving us towards natural gas for many things including gas stoves in our homes. Any gas oil company can recognize this and therefore they are making the move to newer methods.
